Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT): According to the Beck Institute, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is a time-sensitive, structured, present-oriented psychotherapy directed toward solving current problems and teaching skills to modify dysfunctional thinking and behavior. LGBTQ+: LGBTQ+ is an umbrella term for a range of gender identities and sexual orientation which include, but are not limited to, these identities: Asexual: A person who experiences little or no sexual attraction. Aromantic: A person who experiences little or no romantic attraction. Bisexual/Biromantic: A person who is sexually and/or romantically attracted to people of the same and other genders. Demisexual: A person who experiences sexual attraction as secondary to other forms of attraction, such as emotional attraction. A demisexual person may develop sexual attraction to a person once a relationship or connection has been established. Gay: A male-identified person who is sexually and/or romantically attracted to other male-identified people. Lesbian: A female-identified person who is sexually and/or romantically attracted to other female-identified people. Two-Spirit: A term used in some First Nations communities to describe an experience and/or identity of having male, female or non-binary spirits. It is not limited to gender identity or sexual orientation. Questioning: A person questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. Pansexual: A person who can experience sexual and/or romantic attraction to people of any sex or gender. Queer: An umbrella term used to by individuals who might not identify as straight and/or cisgendered. |
