Q: What is AFFIRM?
A: AFFIRM is a group for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults to learn stress coping skills. The group is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. In this group, you will learn how to address stress in your life. The group is called AFFIRM because it is designed to be affirmative, or supportive, of LGBTQ+ identities. 
 
Q: Who can attend AFFIRM?
A: AFFIRM is open to LGBTQ+ people who are interested in learning stress coping skills. Groups are open to ages 14-29 and your group will be with people of a similar age. Some groups are directed to specific populations. The first step is visit our locations page to see our currently recruiting locations, and eligibility for the group.
 
Q: When and where is AFFIRM?
A: Our intention is to offer AFFIRM across Ontario. Visit our locations page for currently recruiting locations. 
 
Q: There is no AFFIRM in my location. Now what?
A: Our intention is to offer AFFIRM across Ontario. If AFFIRM is not listed in your area, please feel free to contact us at youthaffirm@gmail.com, or suggest AFFIRM to an agency in your location. 
 
Q: I want to attend AFFIRM. Where do I start?
A: The first step is to fill out the screener questions here. Someone from the AFFIRM team will contact you with the next steps. 
 
Q: What are the benefits of attending AFFIRM?
A: The primary benefit of attending the group is learning stress coping skills to deal with daily stressors, as well as homophobia, transphobia and biphobia.
