Project AFFIRM research initiative comes to close

After five successful years, the Project AFFIRM implementation research program in Ontario is coming to a close. Although the research initiative will no longer be running, the AFFIRM intervention will continue to be offered by trained facilitators working out of Ontario agencies.

From 2017 to 2022, the AFFIRM team has offered 31 in-person and 34 online groups, helping 513 LGBTQ+ individuals learn skills to help cope with stress and discrimination and foster hope. And AFFIRM has grown! We're excited to see AFFIRM implemented in Canada, the US, Mexico, and Hong Kong.

AFFIRM participants have completed over 2000 surveys, resulting in a wealth of research demonstrating that AFFIRM is an effective evidence-based practice for LGBTQ+ youth and adults to improve wellbeing. Read more about our research here

Sign up for email updates and join us as we adapt the AFFIRM program. We seek to continue groups for LGBTQ+ youth and adults while advancing research on affirmative LGBTQ+ mental health interventions. If you are interested in joining a waitlist for future groups, please sign up here. We hope to be able to offer more virtual groups soon!
